"Terre di Mezzo" is made up of musicians from very diverse musical backgrounds such as jazz, classical, ethnic, and many others. This determines the unique musical identity of the group, characterized by the fusion of different styles: its music crosses a thousand places and a thousand spaces, travelling through the countless ethnic colours of the Mediterranean without ever abandoning the roots of jazz, common matrix to all members of the group.
The band has played with Gianluigi Trovesi as guest musician. This collaboration allows the band to extend its musical research, which is a combination of popular styles and jazz language.
Since 1995 "Terre di Mezzo" has played in several festivals worldwide such as Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, England, Lebanon, Tunisia, Etiopia, etc., receiving very warm acclaim both from critics and audiences. It is considered as one of the most original italian band and its music has been described as "a continuous surprise, an unpredictable journey through unexplored continents, a kaleidoscope of colours and situations".
Besides there are two other projects. The first, "Dedicated to Pasolini", is based on music and poetry, together with the actor Francesco Lanza. The second is based on the original music of "Terre di Mezzo", arranged for the group and the city band of Imola (Italy) by the arranger Stefano Nanni. "Terre di Mezzo" has released the CDs "Terre di Mezzo" (Philology), "Faro" (Wide Sound) and the "Danza Gialla" (Dodicilune). This CD is already reckoned as one of the most interesting recording of the latest years. It’s recently been selected by Jazzit magazine as one of "Jazzit 100 Greatest Jazz Album" (Jazzit Awards).
