Emiliano Rodriguez
He graduated in classic saxophone at the Music Academy "G. Rossini" of Pesaro (Italy) with M° Federico Mondelci. He took his second degree in jazz saxophone at the Music Academy “A. Buzzolla” of Adria (Italy) with M° Fabio Petretti. He attended international courses ‘Seminari Senesi di Musica Jazz’ with C. Fasoli, G.Trovesi, S. Cantini, M. Giammarco, D. Liebman, E. Pierannunzi.
He has worked with important orchestras such as: “Teatro alla Scala” Orchestra and “Filarmonica della Scala”- with conductors such as: Riccardo Muti, David Robertson, Eliahu Inbal, George Pretre, Daniel Harding, Riccardo Chailly, Daniele Gatti, etc. – “Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI di Torino”, “Teatro San Carlo di Napoli”, “Teatro dell’Opera di Roma”, “Internazionale d'Italia”, Sinfonica di Milano "Giuseppe Verdi", “Filarmonica di Torino”, “Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza”, “Filarmonica Marchigiana”, Orchestra "Guido Cantelli", Orchestra "Bruno Maderna”, playing music by Ravel, Bizet, Prokofiev, Rota, Stravinskji, Bernstein, Gershwin, Berio, Weill, Shostakovich, Rachmaninov etc.
He recorded a CD entirely devoted to compositions by Nino Rota, published by Sony Music with the “Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala" conducted by Riccardo Muti.
In 2004 he won the audition as saxophonist at the Rome Opera Theatre. He has played as soloist with “I Virtuosi Italiani Orchestra”, “I Solisti della Scala”, “Ensemble Strumentale Scaligero”, “Arkè String Quartet”, etc. He has recently performed in national premiere with the Rome Opera Theatre Saxophone Quartet, the music for the ballet "Notes la Nuit " composed by Philip Glass and Steve Reich, with the choreography by Francesco Nappa.
During his artistic career he played with prestigious musicians such as Gianluigi Trovesi, Paolo Fresu, Enrico Rava, Stefano Bollani, Dado Moroni, Michel Godard, Marco Tamburini, Fabrizio Meloni, Federico Mondelci, Mario Marzi, Oliver Kern, Massimo Polidori, Alfredo Impulliti, Luciano Biondini, Ettore Fioravanti, Massimo Manzi, Fabrizio Puglisi, Ares Tavolazzi, Javier Girotto, Pierre Favre, Hiram Bullock, Steve Gadd, Natalie Cole, Lucio Dalla, Jeff Berlin.
He has performed in Italy, Austria, England, Switzerland, Russia, Slovenia, Croatia, Netherlands, Belgium, Lebanon, Tunisia, Etiopia, Emirates. He played in important festivals such as: Siena Jazz, Umbria Jazz, International Music Festival Saint Petersburg, Stagione Opera Balletto Concerti - Teatro alla Scala, I Concerti del Quirinale – RAI Radio 3, I° Convegno Internazionale "Il Sassofono" (Conservatorio di Milano), Clusone Jazz Festival, I Suoni delle Dolomiti, Time in Jazz, Rossini Opera Festival, Pavarotti & Friends, 14th World Saxophone Congress (Lubiana), Crossroads 2003- 2004, International Accordion Festival - London, Le Cercle Musique et Art (Beirut), Angelica Festival Internazionale di Musica - Bologna, Fano Jazz by the Sea, I° Festival Italiano degli Strumenti a Fiato, Estate Romana, Estate dei Popoli Venezia, Terni in Jazz, Vicenza Jazz, etc.
His original projects are:
- “Terre di Mezzo’” - jazz original compositions - with Luciano Biondini accordeon, Roberto Bartoli double bass, Ettore Fioravanti drums. They often features Gianluigi Trovesi, clarinets. The band realesed the CDs "Terre di Mezzo" ( Philology), “Faro” ( Wide Sound) and the last “Danza Gialla” (Dodicilune), selected by Jazzit magazine as one of “Jazzit 100 Greatest Jazz Album” (Jazzit Awards 2012) and chosen as " recording of the week " by RAI Radio 3 (national italian radio).
- “E Bairav Ensemble” – music from east Europe and original compositions - with Fabrizio Meloni - first clarinet at “Teatro alla Scala”, Massimiliano Rocchetta piano, Roberto Bartoli doublebass. They released the CDs “Pulcherrima Ignota” and “La Musica del Vento” with the “I Virtuosi Italiani” Orchestra. The last work is “# 1 Cratere Bartok”, published by LimenMusic / Warner Chappell; it has been presented in world premiere at “Teatro alla Scala” in Milan.
- “Duo Rodriguez/de Bonis”- jazz original compositions – with Stefano de Bonis piano. They have released the CD “D’acqua e di vento” ( Wide Sound).
- "Alma Brasileira" - Brazilian music between folk and classical music - with Stefano Nanni piano, Roberto Bartoli bass, Gianluca Nanni drums.
He is also playing with the ensemble “Hallo Mr.Sax” – 12 saxophonist - conducted by Mario Marzi; they have published the cds “Hallo Mr. Sax” and “Gershwin” (Velut Luna). He play also with with the “Italian Saxophone Orchestra” conducted by Federico Mondelci, with whom he tours in various parts of the world.
He recorded also with: Orchestra “Bruno Maderna” (music by Rachmaninov), “Moon Cin Jazz Orchestra” (Big Band 25 musicians), “Sax Chorus” (feauturing Gianluigi Trovesi), "Mazapegul" (world music), Banda Olifante” (world music – Felmay), ‘”Missa” by Alfredo Impulliti - with P. Fresu, T. Tracanna, G. Trovesi, P. Favre - Soul Note). He has recorded for the national television and radio.
He teaches classic saxophone and jazz saxophone in various Music Academy in Italy (Terni, Teramo, Cesena, Pesaro, etc.) and he holds several masterclasses at prestigious musical institutions.
