"E Bairàv Ensemble" - literally "Ensemble of the Wind" - for more than ten years has devoted its work to the study of the musical traditions of the Balkan countries.
This band has participated in numerous festivals around the world and has published the CDs “Pulcherrima Ignota – Tribute to the gypsy music in the world”, “La musica del vento” with the orchestra “I Virtuosi Italiani”, and the CD/DVD “# 1 Cratere Bartok ” (Warner-Chappel), a heartfelt homage to the great Hungarian master through original compositions, that has recently given its world premiere at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
The latest project, "Orient Express", represents a sort of "imaginary journey" through the Eastern European music of yesterday, today and tomorrow, through original compositions and unpublished arrangements.
It is a poignant and at the same time overwhelming music, with overflowing lyricism and euphoric restlessness. It’s performed by combining the individual experiences of the musicians with the the “tzigane” praxis, characterized by expressive melodic inflections of "rubato" and "glissando", a typical rhythmic approach and by frequent and sudden dynamic changes.
